How's this for a comeback!
So, as most of you know, I've always been slightly obsessed with Paul Stankey from HiveModular. Finding out about his Holyoke Cabin has taken my obsession to a near creepy level. This amazing little cabin sits on over 175 acres in a small community called Holyoke, about 2 hours north of Minneapolis. Paul and his brother, Scott, bought these 20' shipping containers for only $800 bucks a piece and created an AMAZING cabin with little resources and money. If only everyone built this way!
The cabin is small - kitchen, dining room, living area, mud room, and 2 small sleeping spaces - and all windows and hardware were homemade; they actually set the insulated glass into frames that were welded on-site. The home will be powered, at least in partial, by a small solar array. Also, the downspout will be will be hooked up to a cistern to collect rainwater.
Stay tuned for updates (interior pics!!!) as the cabin is completed!
